Career
Exploration Geologist
As Exploration Geologist I am discovering and evaluating new hydrocarbon prospects. Part of my job is mapping and risking the possible new oil and gas fields and adding them to the company's portfolio. High oil price? A good thing about the high oil price - people are finally thinking about saving energy and money. For the oil companies a lower oil price would be more attractive, because the high oil prices drive the exploration costs into the sky. In order to reduce my carbon footprint, I am taking my bike and the bus every morning to get to work.
Structural Geologist, 3D Modeler, Seismic Interpreter
As structural geologist I am specializing in the tectonic evolution of fold-and-thrust belts like the Alps and the Andes. Goal of my studies are fault-related folding mechanisms indicated by syntectonic growth strata and 2D cross-section balancing and 3D restoration.
Contaminated Land Consultant, Enironmental Engineer
As environmental engineer I worked many years in industry. I was planing, supervising and evaluating remediation of waste sites.
Geo-Journalist, Multimedia Consultat
For a short time, I investigated and wrote small but interesting articles about scientific topics:
for GEO, GEO.de and GEOlino.de:
For children: What is a geologist doing? Join me on a trip in the Andes (GEOlino.de)
Für Kinder: Was macht ein Geologe überhaupt? Begleitet mich in die Anden (GEOlino.de)Listen to the sound of an earthquakes. (GEO.de)
So klingen Erdbeben. Hören sie selbst! (GEO.de)Protect yourself from avalanches (GEO.de)
Wie kann man sich vor Lawinen schützen? (GEO.de)Anzeichen früherer Klimawechsel (GEO, GEO.de)
Climate change in history (GEO, GEO.de)Biggest mass extiction in earths history at the Permian-Triasic boundary (GEO, GEO.de)
Das größte Artensterben der Erde an der Perm-Trias-Grenze (GEO, GEO.de)Mammalian evolution in the southern hemisphere (GEO, GEO.de)
Entwickelten der Säugetiere auf der Südhalbkugel (GEO, GEO.de)
